BIOGRAPHY
I was born in Kazakhstan and raised in Armenia from where my family and I moved to Seattle area almost six years ago. I studied economics, but art has always been a big part of my life. I spent hours copying Disney characters as a kid. Much later my passion for creating characters and capturing their emotions led me to children's book illustration. I joined the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and now most of my time is dedicated to drawing for kids. Besides children's illustrations, I also work on different individual projects.
What Inspires and motivates you ?
I take my inspiration from anything: it could be a beautiful movie, a person from the street, some comic situation, and even my own mood. But when I create something that catches people's attention, makes them smile, that's what motivates me a lot to create more and more.
My artistic style is a consequence of diverse cultures of different countries I had lived in. My goal is to give my illustrations feelings and emotions, rather than perfect lines, and let you experience it!
WHAT MEDUIM ARE YOU MOST DRAWN TO ?
Most of the time I use traditional tools ink & watercolor, sometimes I color my work digitally or add some other media like colored pencils.
